Preparation and paper filing systems
Creation and maintenance of transactions and object documentation are the essential tasks of a museum registrar. This information has traditionally been stored in either paper or electronic files. The logical understanding of how the files relate to one another, to the object and the history of the museum is of great importance. Accountability to the museums’ mission, staff, public are essential in order for clear ownership and any legal responsibilities.
In all the museums and for private clients, I have provided clear paper or electronic records for easy retrieval of information. Copies of signed documents, histories of condition, loans, exhibitions, donor information, photographs and other activities related to the object were compiled, recorded and saved. I have used a number of electronic databases and can recommend to clients some of the companies to approach for contact information and demonstrations.
